GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS FOR CHANNEL OPS

#CP2020 is a member of the FFRPA and will adhere to its standards
in any matter not discussed on this page.

NEW OPS STATUS

In order to become a channel operator (op) you must be sponsored by an established op and approved by the channel administrator and two master ops. Once approved, new ops must read and agree to these guidelines and regulations and the channel guidelines. It will be the responsibility of the sponsoring op to train the new op. Ops must supply the administrator with their valid email address. They may also provide an alias account (hotmail, geocities, yahoo, etc) to be posted on the website.

CHANNEL HIERARCHY

The channel administrator (admin) will have final decision and judgement in all matters. Directly under the admin are the master operators (mops) who will serve as the governing council in matters concerning op approval, disciplinary actions, permanent hostmask bans, and channel rule changes. Under the mops will be the channel operators (ops) who will serve to maintain and enforce the channel guidelines, referree combat if requested, preside over disputes between players, provide NPCs as needed to help progress role play, and provide help and information about the channel, free form role play, character generation, and IRC in general. All ops and above are authorized to kick and/or temporarily ban players who consistently and blatently violate channel guidelines. Non op players will be referred to as users.

Admin: Lyssa (usual nick Delorean)

Mops: Doug (usual nick Faite), Laura (usual nick Sentio), Bren (usual nick Acelin)

DISCIPLINE OF OPS

Violating the channel guidelines or the ops guidelines and regulations will be taken very seriously. Ops who violate the channel rules will receive one documented warning, after which it will be at the discretion of the mops and admin as to whether to demote the violator if he continues. Once an op is demoted to user status, he or she will be treated as a normal user by the other ops.

BICKERING OR DISCUSSING CHANNEL BUSINESS IN THE OPEN CHANNEL IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN AND MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DEMOTION. ANY SUCH COMMENTS ARE TO BE MADE PRIVATELY BETWEEN THE CONCERNED PARTIES.

ANY ATTEMPT TO DISRUPT THE CHANNEL'S NORMAL OPERATIONS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE BAN FROM THE CHANNEL.

ABUSE OF POSISTION IS FORBIDDEN AND WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DEMOTION.

Ops who have been demoted may appeal to the mops for reinstatement. Reinstatement requires the approval of all mops and the admin.

Complaints regarding op violations should be directed to the mops or the admin by /msg or by email to the admin. Do not make such complaints in open channel. Logs of violations are recommended.

DISCIPLINE OF USERS

In order to make the channel enjoyable, some leeway must be allowed for users who violate channel guidelines. New users will be warned on violations by /MSG and referred to the channel guidelines. Users who blatently or continuously violate channel guidelines will be given a documented warning (the warning and the violation must be logged) after which they may be kicked from the channel if they continue. If violations continue after a warning and a kick, the user may be temporarily banned from the channel. Consistent violations may warrant a permanent ban, in which case the request and the logged records of the violations must be sent to the mops or the admin. Any mop or the admin may set a permanent hostmask ban against a violator.

ANY ATTEMPT TO DISRUPT THE CHANNEL'S NORMAL OPERATIONS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE BAN FROM THE CHANNEL.

BICKERING BETWEEN USERS IS TO BE TAKEN OUTSIDE OF CHANNEL AFTER ONE WARNING. IF IT CONTINUES, THE OFFENDERS WILL BE KICKED.

Users who have been banned may appeal to the mops for reinstatement. Reinstatement requires the approval of all mops and the admin.

Ops may remove only temporary bans that they themselves have placed. Removal of a temporary ban set by another op requires a mop or the admin.

ADMIN DUTIES

The admin will be responsible for ensuring that the channel runs smoothly and according to Undernet regulations and guidelines. The admin will have final judgement in all matters concerning channel operation. The admin will maintain the duties of op when in channel. The admin will take into consideration the input, comments, suggestions, and feedback of all mops, ops, and users. The admin will acknowledge that the channel is primarily for the enjoyment and use of the public users and will act accordingly.

MOP DUTIES

Mops will be responsible for all matters concerning rule changes, ops status, and permanent ban status. Mops will maintain contact via email with each other and the admin regarding any such changes or proposals. Mops will maintain the duties of op when in channel. Mops will acknowledge that the channel is primarily for the enjoyment and use of the public users and will act accordingly.

OP DUTIES

Ops will be responsible for the daily operations of the channel, including enforcing the channel guidelines, referreeing combat when requested, presiding over disputes between players about role play, providing NPCs to help in role play, and providing help and information about the channel, free from role play, character generation, and IRC in general. Active ops will commit to a minimum of three hours a week in the channel. Ops who must take time off will notify the admin so that they may be placed on inactive status.

Referreeing

When requested, an op will act as referree for combat. The referree will keep track of damage and officiate rounds of combat. The referree will make final judgement as to whether characters receive damage or enter mortality. The referree will make final judgement as to the validity of weapons use, armor use, or actions.

Disputes regarding role play

In free form role play there will inevitably be situations in which players dispute the actions of other players. Such disputes can quickly escalate into bickering and arguments and disrupt the role play of other users. In the event of such a dispute, the op will use his or her judgement and reason WITHOUT FAVORITISM OR PREJUDICE to determine whether the action is valid. The op's judgement in the matter is considered final and if the dispute continues, the users will be asked to take the matter to another channel or conduct the discussion privately via /msg or dcc chat. The main goal of the op in this situation is to ensure that the other users are allowed to continue their role play without interruption. If dispute continues in open channel after the users have been warned, the op may use his or her discretion to kick and/or temporarily ban the users.

Op NPCs

Ops are encouraged to help user characters get started by providing NPC Execs and Fixers. Execs are special Corp characters who enter channel on occassion to offer job leads to player characters. Execs will identify themselves as such when they enter a channel and will endeavor to ensure that anyone seeking a job can get it. NPC Fixers are characters who can facilitate players with equipping their characters. NPC Execs and Fixers will rarely become involved in specific scenarios and remain neutral if possible so that all characters have equal access to them. Other helpful NPCs might include MedTechies and Techies if there are no player characters to fill those roles.
